Columbia Management Advisors, LLC, a unit within Columbia Management, is the investment advisor to the Columbia Funds mutual fund family. As of June 30, 2008, Columbia Management Advisors has approximately $390 billion in assets under management and the Cash Investment Group, comprised of over 20 investment professionals, has approximately $190 billion in assets under management. The Opportunity
We are seeking a Junior Money Market Portfolio Manager to join our Cash Investments Group in Boston. Responsibilities in this role include:
- Managing a group of Corporate Cash and Private Wealth client portfolios with securities that focus on the front end of the yield curve to meet the specific liquidity needs of each client.
- Manage accounts which include both taxable and tax-exempt securities to deliver competitive returns according to the specific guidelines of each portfolio. Portfolios usually include commercial paper, swaps, asset-backed securities, variable rate demand notes, and other short-term securities.
- Analyze current investment allocation and determine future actions to enhance account performance.
- Interact with clients to discuss/review performance and determine any re-allocation requirements.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have experience as a portfolio manager or analyst with securities at the front end of the duration curve and understand relevant impact to portfolio management. With regard to specific requirements, we are looking for the following combination of experience, skill sets and personal qualities:
· A minimum of 4 years of a successful track record managing municipal money market instruments required.
· Quantitative aptitude and strong technical skills
· Knowledge of short term securities such as those listed above.
· Experience using BondEdge and Bloomberg.
· Effective at building relationships and working collaboratively
· Positive attitude and enthusiasm
· Impeccable character and highest ethical standards
· Hard working and self directed, driven to succeed
· Passion for the investment business
· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
· Resourceful, proactive and able to operate in a highly collegial, professional, and demanding team environment
· MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred
